Spirit of Will Rogers

Will Rogers served others. He was the biggest star of his day—number one in the movies, newspapers, radio, and public speaking, but most importantly, he was a humanitarian.

Will always took time to help those in need and to serve his fellow citizens and he was known for giving of his time and his money to serve others. His wife Betty said he would leave in the morning with a wad of cash and give it to needy people. He would often perform fundraising speeches and donate his earnings back to that charity.

Will visited children’s hospitals, and disaster-torn areas and he frequently used his public platforms to encourage others to help those in need. Will was always serving others in any way he could.

In today's world, we need to serve our fellow citizens and Will is a great Role Model citizen for Service. That’s why we’ve established the Spirit of Will Rogers Award. We want to honor those that have done selfless acts of service for others.

If you know someone who has taken the time to serve their community, friend, neighbor or even a total stranger, please nominate them for a Spirit of Will Rogers Recognition.

They will receive a Spirit of Will Rogers Certificate and be recognized publicly for their acts of service.
